List of Vande Bharat Train Routes in Gujarat

Vande Bharat Express train at a Gujarat railway platform at golden hour

Vande Bharat Trains in Gujarat: Overview

Gujarat is one of the best-connected states for Vande Bharat Express travel. As of October 2026, six Vande Bharat train pairs (12 services, one in each direction) start, end or pass through the state. They link Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Dwarka, Junagadh and Veraval with Mumbai in Maharashtra and with Jodhpur and Udaipur in Rajasthan.

Ahmedabad is the main hub, but the trains use different stations in the city. Some use Ahmedabad Junction, others use Sabarmati or Asarva. Picking the right station matters when you book, so we point it out wherever it applies.

Several services changed in 2026. The Udaipur–Asarva train was replaced by a Surat–Udaipur service in October. The Okha train now starts from Sabarmati. The Veraval train now runs on a new route through Dholka and Botad.

Important: Timings, off-days, distances and fares in this guide are approximate and can change after schedule revisions, extensions or seasonal adjustments. Always confirm the exact details on IRCTC or NTES before you book. Last reviewed: 20 October 2026.

How to Book Vande Bharat Tickets

  1. Open the IRCTC website (irctc.co.in) or the IRCTC Rail Connect app and log in. New users can register with a mobile number and email.
  2. Enter the From and To stations and your travel date. Pick the station name carefully. For example, use Sabarmati Jn (SBT) for the Okha train.
  3. Select the Vande Bharat train from the results. Match the train number with the quick list above.
  4. Choose your class, AC Chair Car (CC) or AC Executive Chair Car (EC), and check seat availability.
  5. Add passenger names, ages and ID details, then confirm your boarding station.
  6. Pay online and save the e-ticket. Carry a valid photo ID on the day of travel.

You can also book at a station reservation counter if you prefer to pay in person.

Booking Tips for Vande Bharat Travel in Gujarat

  • Book early: Indian Railways usually opens reservations 60 days before the travel date. Timetable listings for these trains also show a 60-day window, but confirm on IRCTC.
  • Watch festival dates: Diwali, Uttarayan in mid-January, winter holidays and long weekends fill seats quickly, especially on the Mumbai trains.
  • Check Tatkal: Tatkal is a last-minute quota with higher charges. It may not be open on every train, and AC Tatkal usually opens at 10 AM one day before travel. Confirm on IRCTC.
  • Understand waitlist: A fully waitlisted e-ticket is cancelled and refunded after the chart is prepared, so you cannot board on it.
  • Pick the right station: Ahmedabad has several stations. Sabarmati Jn (SBT), Sabarmati BG (SBIB), Ahmedabad Jn (ADI) and Asarva (ASV) are different places, so read your ticket.
  • Check NTES before you leave: Heavy rain or engineering work can delay, short-terminate or cancel trains.

Fastest and Longest Vande Bharat Journeys in Gujarat

Going by the timetables above, the Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad pair (22961/22962) has the shortest running time, at about five and a half hours. The Surat–Udaipur pair (26903/26904) has the longest, at about seven and a half hours. The Okha train comes close on its morning run.

These rankings are based on current schedules only. A timetable change can shift them.

Classes and Amenities Explained

AC Chair Car (CC)

This is the standard class. You get an air-conditioned, reclining seat in a 3+2 layout. There are no beds, because these are day trains. Most travellers choose CC.

AC Executive Chair Car (EC)

EC is the premium class. Seats are wider, with more legroom, in a 2+2 layout. There are fewer EC coaches than CC coaches, so these seats sell out faster on busy days.

Onboard facilities

  • Automatic doors, large windows and CCTV cameras
  • Charging points, reading lights, seat pockets and tray tables
  • Infotainment screens and Wi-Fi (availability can vary)
  • Overhead racks for bags, so keep luggage compact
  • Bio-vacuum toilets and the Kavach anti-collision system
  • Onboard catering, with a catering charge that is usually part of the ticket

The two Mumbai trains run with 16 coaches. Most other Gujarat services use shorter eight-coach rakes. Confirm the coach count on IRCTC, because rakes can change.

Vande Bharat Fare Range in Gujarat

Fares depend on distance, class and extras such as the reservation fee, superfast charge, catering and GST. From published fare listings, a Chair Car ticket on the longer Gujarat routes roughly falls between ₹950 and ₹1,800. An Executive Chair Car ticket roughly falls between ₹1,800 and ₹3,200. Short trips, such as Ahmedabad to Vadodara, cost much less.

These are rough ranges, not official fares. The Ministry of Railways has also allowed discounted AC chair car and executive fares on trains with low occupancy, so prices can differ by date. Check the exact fare for your date on IRCTC before you pay.
